Character Design, Logo, Book, and iPad Prototype

Scale Tale Party is an interactive application for an iPad, combined with the tangibility of a book. Designed specifically for autistic children, the concept was to develop tasks that each student can complete to further their educational development.

Mr. Flutter, the Pterodactyl, is having a birthday party. For his friends to be able to attend, he has to help each of them complete a task, designed especially for each dinosaur. The child has the ability to choose what dinosaurs they want to interact with based on land or water, so each adventure will be different.

When the task is completed, the child will place the book, that follows the same concept of the iPad application, over the top of the iPad. These two items will then interact with each other, providing a reward system for the completed task.

The artwork being simple and having basic colors, the concept of simple illustrations without complicating the subject was key to the creation. The book is separate, as well as the iPad application being able to function on its own, but also together, was a key factor to enable this project to be engaging for the children, teacher, and parents.
